Make sure you’ve updated us if you’ve moved or had a child recently.

MOST IMPORTANTLY:
The Tribal Council still needs some people to send in documents for their membership file. The items are required by the Federal Government for verification purposes. These documents are protected by the Privacy Act and shall not be made available to the public.  These items include:

• Copies of birth certificates for you and your children.
• Copies of any military service records for you or your  family.
• Copies of any type of correspondence from the federal government relating to your Native American decent.
• Copies of any documents showing the you have received government services such as, but not limited to:
  1. Healthcare/Dental
  2. Veteran’s Benefits
  3. Land/Monetary Allotments

Membership files have been completed for each man, woman and child in the Tribe.  At some point, persons over 18 will be sent an affidavit, that they MUST sign, saying that they are willing members of Shebelna.  Our official constitution is almost complete.  There are a few parts that the general membership will need to vote on, such as official membership requirements, etc.  Members over 18, who cannot attend meetings where voting will take place, will be sent an ABSENTEE BALLOTS to vote on issues when the time comes.  We still need to do some more research and organize all the supporting evidence we have to meet the seven criteria.  Things are moving very fast now, and the Tribal Council can not keep up with the work load.  The sooner we get more help, THE SOONER OUR DREAMS OF FEDERAL RECOGNITION WILL BECOME A REALITY.  By the time this correspondence reaches you, it will be outdated.  To keep up on what’s going on, Members must attend meetings or contact the Tribal Council.  We are only a phone call away.
